All year round Progressive Productions’ Hungarian headquarters awaits the applications of students who are interested in the field of film production, management and coordination, who have won an Erasmus+ Internship and who are searching for a fitting country and production company to be their hosts.

What We Provide Our Applicants

Our company has a pre-developed programme which awaits its applicants. Our main aim is to provide the intern with insights into the work process of a production company that specialises in international film production and high-end photography production, as well as to enable them to gain practical knowledge that they will be able to use in their future professional career. This practical programme offers applicants a preliminary understanding of what tasks and duties they will be given during the internship. Since Progressive Productions works as a production office, it is unpredictable when incoming projects will reach their production phase, due to which the programme was developed for those mainly interested in pre-production and back-office work, as well as production service marketing and sales, instead of the focus being on specific tasks regarding the production of a project. Regardless, if a production will be shot by our company during the internship, then the intern can gain insights into preproduction and production of the project as a member of the crew.

Based on those stated above, the professional programme is split into two parts. The first part consists of tasks essential for the everyday functioning of a production company and is guaranteed to all interns, while the second part concerns tasks connecting to shoots, which is uncertain depending on the status of our ongoing projects. This is why it is possible that the intern will only undertake office tasks during their internship, but so is that they will be able to assist the preparation and production of a project throughout the majority of their internship. Furthermore, depending on their interests and specific studies, the programme may be expanded, but these are always personally discussed for each intern.

The length of the preliminarily planned programme is 3 months, but it can be expanded if the intern stays longer and a shorter version can also be agreed on, if the intern only plans to spend a shorter period in Hungary.

Basic program, examples of additional activities, tasks connecting to projects:

  1. Introduction of the company’s inner structure and operation.
  2. Introduction to the website.
  3. Induction of using computer programmes that are indispensable for the functioning of a production company.
  4. Induction to the active use of CRM systems at a production company.
  5. Research regarding projects, locations and any further topics that are in connection to filmmaking.
  6. Creating a well-structured presentation on the results of the research.
  7. Documentation of the researched material.
  8. Introduction of a production company’s marketing activities.
  9. Induction to location scouting.
  10. Practical tasks regarding location scouting.
  11. Introduction to the process of pre-production and production, via a previously realised project.
  12. Induction to taking location scouting photographs.
  13. Selection of photos for a given website gallery or a given project’s proposal.
  14. Creating an order of the images specifically for a given website gallery or a given project’s proposal.
  15. Induction of post-production for the selected images.
  16. Assisting the producers during the preparation of the project.
  17. Participation in the shoot as a member of the crew, primarily as a runner or production assistant.

Why Apply to Us?

The central aim of the Erasmus program is to gain experience that will accelerate your professional development and will enrich you with an unforgettable experience. We believe that the combination of Budapest and Progressive Productions can fulfill both of these aspects. This city is an important part of the contemporary world of film, since countless international productions choose Budapest as their location, creating a vivid scene of filmmakers. Furthermore, our capital city is one of the world’s most livable cities, enriched by its countless cultural events, sports events and bustling nightlife.

Moreover, we too will do everything we can to assist the intern to organise their journey and stay. We can provide help in their search for a place to rent, and if needed we can recommend reliable insurance companies. We will also happily help with any issue that may occur further on.

Expectations and the Assessment of Applicants

Since we will consider the intern as an equal colleague, we expect them to work 5 days a week, as we also expect them to be committed towards the profession and their personal development. Furthermore, our company unfortunately only has the capacity to accept maximum 1 intern at a time. Here we will make public some aspects of our assessment procedure to enable the applicants to gain a clear picture of what are our priorities and what is their chance to be accepted. Regardless, we would like to encourage everyone to apply, since every application will be assessed individually and also since the level of oversubscription fluctuates in various periods.

In every case the assessment starts with the examination of three aspects: the applicant’s language skills, the specialisation of their studies that they are undertaking and the country in which they study.

Language Skills

A high level (fit for negotiation) of English is indispensable, since this will be our language of communication within the company. Next to this, knowledge of German, Spanish, Portugese and Japanese is also an advantage.

Studies

Students who are currently studying film or photography are in advantage, especially those attending courses relating to production of some kind. After them, those are also given advantage who are studying in connection to filmmaking or photography, but are also interested in production as well.

Country

We prioritize students studying in Romania and Austria, as well as Germany, Spain and Portugal, if oversubscription occurs. The reason for this is primarily due to us having a stronger day-to-day connection with these countries because of our company’s activities.
