The Sustainability Policy of Progressive Productions

Our way to make and keep the film industry sustainable

For Progressive Productions’ team, both personally and as a company, it is especially important to do as much as possible within their framework for sustainability. We believe that in our time everyone, including us as a production company, has the responsibility to prioritize tackling the challenges of sustainability and to make decisions that enhance it environmentally, socially and economically.

I. Environmental Sustainability Policy

Today, striving for environmental sustainability is not just an option but an obligation. Progressive Productions prioritizes the protection of the environment in every field of its operation. The most important practices we follow for environmental sustainability:

We recycle as much waste material as possible.
We are eliminating the usage of paper. No printouts. All contracts, invoices and documents are used only in digital format.
We never use disposable plastic cups in our office nor on our shoots.
When possible, our colleagues travel by public transport or cycling.
We only use LED lights in our office.
We don’t waste food! Any food left over after a shoot gets donated to people in need. Donations are typically given to homeless shelters, where these are much needed.
We don’t throw away our outdated technical equipment. We donate it to places where they make good use of it.
Responsible sourcing: we strive to purchase local raw materials and support local brands, with a special focus on ethical products.
For every project, we recommend the “green production” service to our clients, which enables us to further decrease the ecological footprint of our productions.

II. Social Sustainability Policy

We believe that social sustainability is a key part of sustainability. So, as an employer, we must do as much as possible for a better, more just and equal society.

Progressive Productions places great emphasis on creating equal opportunities for its employees. No one shall experience discrimination based on their gender, religion, ethnicity, looks or specific circumstances in life. Furthermore, Progressive Productions consciously aims to build as diverse a team as possible for each production. We believe that an inclusive, welcoming and diverse environment does not only have a positive educational effect on those surrounding a project but that it also contributes positively to the final result.

Progressive Productions aims to provide opportunities for individuals who are members of disadvantaged social groups due to their ethnicity or identity.

III. Economic Sustainability Policy

We understand that the biggest enemy of a better and more sustainable world is corruption and other economic crimes, which can have many forms with varying patterns in different countries. Therefore, we regard economic sustainability to be highly important for sustainable development. We know that corruption leads to insecurity and distrust, less respect for rights, less employment and less prosperity. So at the end of the day, we all pay for it.

In its broadest sense, corruption has countless forms. Spanning from state and local council bribing to the disrespect of employment rules and various methods of tax evasion.

We are proud that Progressive Productions has had the highest “reliable taxpayer” rating for many years. Over the years, Progressive Productions has detected some areas, both in Austria and Hungary, where legal cheating occurs the most frequently among its subcontractors. What we do in practice to prevent corruption:

We never use cash and full documentation belongs to each and every financial transaction.
We always put our proposed prices and conditions in writing and send them via email, ensuring that they are witnessed by multiple producers.
In all cases, with our partners and employees, who are either long term employed or hired entrepreneurs, the contracted work relation is made with fully comprehensive documentation.
Special attention is given to ensuring that our crew members get employed following conditions set in their given trade union or collective contract. Also, no employment-related contributions (pension, health insurance, etc.) can get avoided. Regarding economic sustainability, fair employment is very important!
We do not work with subcontractors who have a dubious background nor a proven track record of tax evasion or fraud. In all cases, preliminarily to contracting, their track records are checked.
Progressive Productions naturally does not tolerate any form of corruption within the company, nor by its subcontractors. We always raise attention among our suppliers and crew members to follow correct behavior and values.

We believe that whatever we do, wherever we live, we always have to do the most we can to make our environment and our society better. It is vital to act responsibly both in our everyday life and during our productions because every decision we make has an effect.
