Liminal Production

Following a successful collaboration on POW’s debut music videos, Liminal Production reached out to us again with an exciting new project. This time we teamed up with them for IDNTT’s “BOYtude” MV, one of the debut videos for the upcoming group. The shoot had all the elements we already knew very well: the dance-centred K-pop style with continuous BTS and social content capture. This meant we were on the same page with the Korean production team from the outset, making the preparation phase smooth for both sides.

Hungary, and Budapest in particular, has a wide range of locations in many different styles, and even within any given style the options run deep. That was exactly what we needed here, since we had a clear brief: gritty outskirts and rough suburban vibes with housing blocks. We just had to pinpoint the perfect locations to match the group’s identity for which our extensive location database proved once again invaluable.

Thanks to Budapest’s socialist past, there are still a few tucked-away housing blocks in the city that preserve the era’s original, raw character. After many rounds of scouting, we settled on several of these distinctive areas, as well as a rooftop and a multi-storey car park, all of which could easily accommodate the group’s dance performances while fitting their style perfectly.

For music videos, and for K-pop especially, flexibility is essential. Our approach and Hungary’s film-friendly environment fit this perfectly. Straightforward permitting processes, flexible working hours, and locations that are genuinely open to filming keep the production smooth and make it easy to align workflows between the Korean and local crews while adapting smoothly to the Korean crew’s way of working.

We love meeting new partners, yet returning clients are special. A follow-up project gives us the chance to reveal another of Budapest’s many faces and to demonstrate that Progressive is committed to providing the same high level of production services from project to project.
