This entire Renaissance City was built for the Borgias series, featuring a bishop’s palace on a spacious main square. Next to other beautiful representative buildings painted in warm hues, the backlot also has to offer several narrow streets, alleys with all the little details needed to create a perfect 15th or 16th-century atmosphere. The city is guarded by an imposing wall with turrets typical of early Renaissance Italian architecture. In contrast to the beautiful geometry architecture of the palace’s courtyard, there’s also a bleak historic prison interior with wrought iron cells providing an often sought after filming location.
