The Red Marble Hall
Location Library Hungary
Situated in the former Royal Palace of Budapest, the National Gallery of Hungary features a quite peculiar interior that is completely made of red marble. The atrium-like space is overlooked by a mezzanine going around it. One can look down into the space through its arcade of arches, echoed by the arches on the ground floor. Besides its dominant red color, its glass ceiling, staircase and hard edges make this hall a truly interesting location, of pure, strong geometry that gives it a monumental feel.
