Abandoned Mine
Location Library Hungary
Situated on the outskirts of Budapest, this vast abandoned mine was carved out by miners centuries ago. Its visually striking structure features large-scale geometric forms, creating a labyrinth of monumental, bleak halls carved from stone, with expansive surfaces and sharp edges. Used as a bunker during the world wars, the mine now serves no other purpose except as a unique venue for film shoots and concerts. Since the 1960s, it has been a popular filming location for Hungarian productions, and more recently, it has attracted large-scale international projects. The mine's owner has adapted the site to meet the needs of productions, providing filmmakers with a rare opportunity to shoot in an old underground mine under conditions similar to a sound stage.
